Editorial methodology

Trust comes from showing the work.

“Verified” should describe evidence—not marketing confidence. Our system keeps the source, freshness, and type of verification visible so readers can judge the information properly.

Every fact has a provenance

Official venue sources remain the default. For accessibility only, we may also accept explicit structured attributes from an exact-match Google Business Profile identified by Place ID. The source and review date remain visible.

Source review is not a venue visit

A listing can be source-reviewed without being personally visited. We label direct confirmation, first-hand visits, editorial photography, and desk research as different evidence types.

Volatile details expire

Hours, prices, promotions, and booking rules need a refresh cadence. Stale fields are flagged for confirmation rather than quietly presented as current.

Payment buys visibility, not verdicts

Featured partners receive clearly marked promotional inventory. They cannot purchase an editorial rating, remove material criticism, or appear as an undisclosed recommendation.

Evidence ladder

Four levels, never blurred together.

  1. First-hand visitedStructured observations from a dated editorial visit, including what was booked and paid, the method, limitations, and any complimentary or commercial disclosure. A visit is not a rating and does not replace official-source checks.
  2. Venue confirmedCore facts confirmed directly by an authorized contact.
  3. Official source reviewedDetails checked against the venue’s own current materials. Accessibility may additionally use explicit attributes from the venue’s exact-match Google Business Profile; those facts remain labeled as Google-reported and are refreshed on the volatile-field schedule.
  4. Confirmation pendingUseful lead, but one or more volatile facts need checking.
